I have 2 external drives ones of 250 GB WD passport and one Simpletech 500 GB HDD, both USB, the issue is that my 500 GB is giving me an error of not enough permission to copy, extract or delete data, so I tried to delete all the data and still have the same error, so I try to create a new partition and still gives the same error, I try to click on fix disk permissions, but is grey out, any feedback will be welcome, please let me know if you need additional data. thanks. Do you know which file system you're using on the problematic drive?

Sounds like your Simple Tech 500 GB hard drive is using the NTFS file system.
Mac OS X can read but not write to NTFS without a third party driver.

Paragon Software sells software which allows reading - writing to NTFS from OS X. Link

Regards.
