I am new to mac. I somewhere found that I need to create an "alias" and move the alias to System->Startup Items, to enable any program to run when the machine boots up. I tried this with two programs but they didnt startup.

Can someone help?

Those directions are for Mac OS 9 only. The directions posted above are correct for Mac OS X.

Leave the programs open when you put your Mac to sleep :) Ready to go when you are.

This doesn't seem to work on OSx for parentally controlled accounts. Anyone know how to make a kids program launch automatically when my son logs into his account on our new iMac? Thanks.
