remote presenter, powerpoint or keynote

I have a Targus remote for advancing slides in either powerpoint for mac or keynote. It works perfectly on my computer (macbook 13.3) and has worked perfectly when my prior pc was connected to a projector. However, when I connect my mac to a projector, my remote no longer works though i can advance slides from the keyboard. Is anyone aware of this? Is there a fix?

How does the remote connect to the computer? Is there an IR/RC dongle that plugs into a USB port?

Sorry not much help - having used both KeySpan remote and the new one built into Keynote that allows iPhone/iPhone use, they all are far less than Stage Manager and Stage Hand for the iPhone/iPod. So if u can, head that way, you won't be disappointed.
