Macbook battery not charging?

Hi, I have a black Macbook and when I plug in the power adapter the light is green and the battery icon on the screen says not charging. It shows 0% charge and the power adapter as the power source. If I unplug the power adapter it shuts off immediately. How can I get the battery to charge? Thanks!

Hmm, check to make sure the battery is securely seated in its bay and that the battery compartment is locked tightly after doing so. If that doesn't work then maybe your battery is dead. Try talking to Apple if the first suggestion doesn't work or just buy a new battery.
