Hi all,

My Mac Pro seems to be dying. Or something isn't right!

It is no crashing at least twice at a day. The screen will either freeze and I will have control of the mouse and nothing will happen, or I will se spaces and the screen will freeze and crash, or the screen will turn white and do nothing.

I was having problems before with what I assumed was the graphics card. Anything that was graphics heavy like a game, movie or spaces would make OSC crash. This is the report from the lastest crash.

Anyone suggest what I do? Thinking maybe getting a new HDD and GFX card?

Current Setup:

2 x 2.66 ghz
4gb RAM
3 x 500GB HDD
ATI Radeon X1900 - this spins very loudly for most of the day. Which could suggest a cooling problem?

Thanks in advance

Just happened again whilst playing football manager and listening to music. I tried doing a hardware test with my leopard install disk but it didn't work. Guess i need my 10.4 disk?

I'm assuming this is a kernel panic?

Whenever I had those, I found out that my RAM had went bad. What brand of memory do you have?

same problem

I am facing the exact same problem. my mac crashes generally when i am running x-11 applications (matlab, tecplot, etc), but this isnt the rule.
I am now running snow-leopard, but had this problem even with leopard!
osx just freezes and i need to hard-boot, and most of the times there isnt even a log generated! ironically i have a windows vista computer that hasnt crashed ever in 2yrs!!

To run Apple Hardware Test you need to boot from disc one of the discs which originally came with the machine, reboot and hold down the Option key, and select AHT when it appears on screen and run the full test.
