screen backlight is dead

what would be the causes?
inverter or screen problem?
the apple logo on the back doesnt light up
but if i hold my computer in good light
i can faitly see everything.
how would i go about fixing this? thanks

The cause can be either the backlight or the inverter. It may also be the cable which connects from the inverter and backlight. However, in most cases it's usually either the inverter or backlight. I usually recommend replacing both at the same time. If you can do the repair yourself, that will keep the cost down as both parts are not expensive.
