Dashboard widgets + iframe

Hey guys, I've spent a lot of time on this but still can't seem to solve it.

I have a website that I'm trying to make a widget out of (i.e. everything should be self contained)

The problem is, that once I make a widget out of the main page (using the safari "scissor" tool), clicking on a link in the widget opens a new full browser window with the target location. I want it to stay within the widget and display the new page inside that widget.

I've tried using iframes, since if a link is clicked in an iframe, it is the iframe and not the parent that is refreshed (right?) - but even that opens a new window.

Is there anyway I can contain a site inside a widget without opening a browser window?
