At what bit rate does everyone rip their music to iTunes in ACC format? I had been using 128 kbps, but on my new MacBook I noticed it was ripping at 256 kbps automatically with the "iTunes Plus" option. I can't really tell a difference when playing through the computer or iPod headphones, but my hard drive is 500 gb so should I just go ahead and leave it at 256?

You can set it to what you want. I typically use MP3 320.
Go into preferences>general>import settings, and it gives you the option to set it as you wish. I hate AAC personally, but it's up to you.

I have recently re-ripped all my CDs using Apple Lossless, mainly because I've spent a small fortune on Hi-Fi gear and I want to get the most out of it. Although, I can barely fit any songs on the tiny 16Gb free on my iPhone 3G.

I suggest you at least keep it at 256 kbps or upgrade to 320 kbps on AAC format, if you ever upgrade to good headphones you'll benefit from it... :)

Alright that sounds good. I have plenty of space... the library was about 18 gb at 128 and I could re-rip a lot of it at 256. And the iTunes downloads are at 256 now, so I guess that's the way to go.
