I wonder if he even rifled the barrel for better accuracy. Judging by the work put into it, I'm guessing he did and could drop someone from 100 yards.

So it made me wonder, what are the legal implications of such a thing? Would this be considered a real gun requiring some kind of regisgtration? It clearly has deadly force.

Maybe but don't look down at BB guns too much. When I was a kid my friend shot me with a pump-action BB gun and it went clear through my jeans in into my leg. Luckily it didn't go too deep!
