Problem installing 3.0 on original iPhone

I have the original iPhone, I live in Ireland, and I can't install iPhone 3.0 and it's out here today too. I have the software downloaded but after it says extracting this comes up:

I use Mac OS X Version 10.5.7, and on the official help page it says something about an internet connection not there, but I do have a working internet connection and haven't had problems with previous iPhone updates. Hope someone can help, thanks

My iphone is a 1st Generation.

Try again I got this last night when updating my apps 15min later it worked.

I'm getting the same message. Probably too many people trying to update at once. Keep trying, or wait a while and try later.

it's been a while now...still not working, osxx, when it happened to you last night did you restart itunes or anything? or did you just click install again?
