Hi Guys,

My first post here. I have a G5 dual core 2.00Ghz system that has an ATI Radeon 9600 pro video card. Will the be sufficient to run a 30" mac monitor in hi res ? ( I'm using a 17" ) at the mo. looking at the spec it says it only has 64meg of V Ram ? ! ?

If this won't work what should I be getting that will ?

Don't think it'll handle the res on the 30". And if you have a radeon 9600, you don't have a dual core G5 as they all came with PCI-E video cards and the 9600 was AGP. Maybe a dual processor 2.0ghz? In which case I must ask, why get a $2000 monitor rather than upgrading to an intel system?

If you must have the 30", then shoot for a Radeon 9800 Pro or x600, but bear in mind that it will cost you a few hundred $$$.

Ahhh yess ! Thanks its not a dual core its Dual processor 2.0 ghz. - to be honest I've just go the new Pro but wanted to keep the old G5 going too - both with 30" monitors and separate apps on the old system. Is the 9800 compatible with this G5 ?

The 9800 I used to have in my G4 required an extra power connector and had a nice fan on it. Worked well for me.
