won't shut down

my computer won't shut down after doing proper shutdown procedure is a way i can fix it or is time to take back to the store

20" Intel iMac 2.4 Ghz/3G Ram/320HD, Snow Leopard. PBook G4, 1.5Ghz/1.5 Ram/250 HD, Leopard 10.5.6.
Try using disk utility to repair permissions and disk, and see if that helps. You will need to do this from your install disc.
