I am importing cd's into my itunes library and they are burning really slow. No faster than 7.0x. I have a new macbook. Any suggestions on why that is happening? I am new to macforum too.

I think you mean they are "ripping" slow. What are your import settings?

what is weird is that I can hearing it running real fast when I put in the cd then it slows down. And then a couple of times, I start it "ripping" when its disconnected from the powersource and then it speeds up to 20x. Then when I put in another cd, it does the same thing - starts fast and then slows down to 7x

Are you ripping and playing the CD simultaneously? Because that would definitely slow it down.

Relax. You didn't lose anyone. People come and go here. It's not like operators are standing by to answer your question. We come here as a hobby.

What condition are the discs in? If they're scratched (on either side), scuffed or dirty the drive will have trouble reading them.
