I got the new 13" macbook unibody 2 weeks ago for 1299. They just came out with the new 13" macbook pro for 1199 so i called apple and asked if i could upgrade for free and they said i could keep my current computer and they would give me 100 dollars back or i could upgrade to the new pro for a 10% restocking fee ($130) and pay 100 for them to transfer my settings and songs (because i would have to become a one to one customer) so if i take off 100 of that because the new pro is cheaper i would be paying 130 for the macbook pro. my macbook and the new pro are basically the same except for the backlit keyboard on the pro and the pro has a 2.26 ghz processor where mine is 2.0.

Should i just take the $100 and keep my computer? or do you think it is worth it to pay $130 and go through the trouble of transferring songs for the new macbook pro?

If your happy with your macbook, just keep it and take the 100 dollars back, the pro isn't a massive spec boost.

I'd pay the $130 just for the backlit keyboard. Of course, I like sitting in dark rooms. If you're using yours in brightly lit rooms all the time, it wouldn't benefit you.

macbook pro upgrade?

I would say go for the upgrade. If you don't upgrade now you will wonder about it forever. It is cheaper to upgrade if you want it now then it will be to upgrade later. Plus you will have the added benefit of saying you have a macbook PRO. haha

Go for the pro:
Battery life may be a bit better, you can add up to 8 gigs of RAM, the display is better and the "pro" tag may have a higher resale value later.

Don't bother with one-to-one and data transfer: Just make a backup of your data on a usb harddrive and copy it back to your new MBP when you get it...
