PowerMac G4 Quicksilver, 20" widescree // iMac 24" 2.4GHz Dual
Hi Everyone,
New to the forum, I have recently purchased a G5 iMac... It's brilliant. The other day I managed to set up Boot Camp, and installed XP. I also installed Need for speed underground 2 on the windows partition of the drive, the game plays really well on the highest level of detail for everything... But then just crashes and goes back onto my desktop. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to how it crashes or when, does anyone have any ideas on how I can resolve this?
Thanks,
Max.

For anyone to help specifically, they'll need to know which iMac you have.

It can't be a G5, because BootCamp/Windows only works on Intel Macs.

What CPU is in the machine and which video card do you have?
And have you installed the drivers for Windows from the Leopard disk? (Assuming you have since it runs the game at all. But have to ask.)

For any game that randomly crashes on highest level settings, the first thing to do is back off those settings until you find the best settings a particular machine will run the game at.

Erm it is the 2.4Ghz intel core 2 Duo, with the ATI Radeon HD2600.
Hope this helps!

I'd make sure you've got the patch EA put out for the game - you can grab it here among many places.

See if that'll take care of it. The HD2600 is not the best card for gaming, but it should do pretty good on that old game. If you still have it crashing, you'll more than likely have to cut back on the detail level until you find a happy medium that works.
