• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I've found a web page with a link to a 'Real Player' music track.

When I click on the link it automatically launches Real Player on my mac (OS9.2) and the file 'buffers' before starting to play the whole track.

Is it possible to somehow download/save this Real Player buffered file to my hard disc, then convert it to an mp3 file for my ipod?

sorry to disappoint you but as far as I'm concern NO. those files are streaming files, not actual song files.

Pod,
Yes, you can save the RealPlayer file, and in doing so, convert it to an .aiff file, import it to iTunes and burn a CD of the file. Audio HiJack does this. Go to www.rogueamoeba.com/audiohijack. They have a Pro Version and a simple version. I've got the cheaper version since all I really wanted to do is save CarTalk programs on CD which streams in RealAudio. Audio HiJack also converts .WMA files to .aiff. I just don't know if Audio HiJack is compatible with OS9. I use it with OSX.

audio hijack has os 9 compatible versions, in fact, it was better in os 9, cause it was an audio editor, not a recorder, you could use effects and filters on audio.
