What problems you can expect ... hmm... that depends what you define as a problem.

Maybe it wont be the best gaming laptop if you are into gaming ...

Any special Windows software you need to use in college? If so you might need to Install Windows on your Mac via bootcamp, or use vmware fusion.

All computers can have problems, even Macs do. But the software (Mac OS X) works often a lot better than Windows in my opinion. :)

Yeah, the white MacBook have been plauged by cracks in the casing. But Apple usually fix those computers if you would be so unlucky to experience those problems. And some of the older MacBooks heated up a bit because of excessive thermal paste used! But I assume Apple have fixed these issues with the new models.

Not all white MacBooks have this crack problem though. My girlfriend have one of theese and it is three years old now. She use it everyday and our son have not only on one occasion thrown that computer on the floor. Still no cracks on it ...

I have a 2007 White MacBook and I've had 0 problems...

Well, I had a Hard drive failure, but obviously hard drives fail. Not my MacBooks fault that it happened.

With that said, since I've switched to the Mac OS X operating system, Windows no longer interests me. I love it.

I've had my MACBOOK since November, the new ones, and I had 0 problems so far, not even one data miner or adware! Nothing and I dont have an antivirus either. My mac seems to be everything they said it is on the video on line for the new MACBooks. Excellent. Once you go MAC, you wont go back!

I've had mine for 2 years and it still runs like new. Actually runs better since I upgraded my RAM and HDD a couple months ago.

Battery can still go for about 4 hours on a full charge; It's had 550 cycles and is at 91% health.

Black MacBooks were once available, but are not currently manufactured. You may be able to get a used or refurbished one, though.

Certainly it is possible to create lockups and drama by installing heaps of 3rd party shareware etc, but the basic OS is pretty much rock solid. Failures are not unusual but in terms of percentage of Apples out there it is extremely small, and mostly the forums feature those with issues to sort out, not the folk who are having trouble free operation.
