I've been noticing that lately my HD is consistently losing space.

I had 95.6 gb available yesterday.
Then I downloaded some music (80 mb)... but out of nowhere the finder showed that my free HD space was 93 gb.

I don't have many files or programas saved but for some reason my HD space keeps getting smaller and smaller.

Anyone could tell me what is going on?

I know this is a bit basic, but you are emptying your Trash before checking the disk space out aren't you?

Under these circumstances, I would run Disk Utility and verify/repair the disk.

I think this is all you can do initially, that may flag up the problem you have with the disk.

Try that first - perhaps the HDD is going though, how old is it? Have you backed up recently?

If you do a lot of internet searching, it will take up a bit of space, butno where as much as you are losing.

Do what brianwmay said.

Regards.

This might be a good read.

As recommended there, try Disk Inventory X. It will help to show you what is taking up space on your Mac. You may also want to run the cleanup operations in something like OnyX or MainMenu.
