I've had my 2.2GHz white 13" macbook for two years now and I downloaded an update from Apple quite a while ago which sent the fan mad, RPM of 6000 or so @ 60C +, but it settled down and was fine until I downloaded a Safari update two days ago which has made it go again.

I downloaded a fan control and it says that the right fan is currently going at 5084 rpm whereas the left one is -1. I'm assuming thats telling me that its broken? and does anyone know how much a repair would cost (in £ please?)

Thanks!

Your left fan is not functioning, definitely broken. Here's an idea of cost in US $, I'll let you convert that to your currency:

Fan control is wrongly reporting the left fan, as the Macbooks only have 1 fan, not 2.
