Accessing Netbook running Ubuntu from MBP OS X

I have a friend using a Dell inspiron 910 netbook running Ubuntu Linux of which I have no experience. She wants to access it via wireless to copy over music and video clips. How easy is it to turn on filesharing on the netbook and access from OS X on a Macbook Pro via her network? Is there a good web resource page walkthrough on Ubuntu Linux on the web that you would recommend?

Many thanks. Since I posted I've also downloaded the Ubuntu installer to put on an old Dell desktop I was given, it will be interesting to see it running.
