Hey guys, I heard that there's a processor called "MaxPower G4" or something that is able to revamp the old G4 into something compatible with the latest OS and such.

Upgrading to Dual sounds awesome for my oldie!! :Shouting:

Please, let me know if you know something about it.

I've seen a few people convert old junk computers to good running fast machines. It's very possible if you're up to the work. :D

Your Mac's Specs
13" MBP 2.53 DC2, 09 Mini 2.0 DC2, 07 Mini 2.16 DC2, MB 2.0 DC2, iBook G3 900MHz, G4 Sawtooth 1.6Ghz
i upgraded a G4 Sawtooth 400MHz

- 1.6 GHz processor
- 256 Video card
- DVD Burner
- SATA Card with 2 1TB 7200 Drives
- USB2 Card with 4 external and 1 internal port
- 2GB ram
- gigabit ethernet card (you wouldn't need this if yours is the gigabit edition)

runs Leopard great. i also removed the zip drive on the front of it and replaced it with 2 USB ports and 1 Firewire port so i didnt have to go around back to get to them.

i didnt pay anything for it and had all the parts except the processor and ram laying around the house so i ended up putting about $350 in it.

funny thing is that i was addicted to getting it as fast and up to date as possible with the ports on front etc... and not it just sits there LOL

Might sound awesome and will run leopard no problem, but will still be stuck with old 100/133MHz system, bus speed. Also you would need to upgrade graphics card for Tiger OS X.4 and Leopard OS X.5 compatabiity.

Sounds like a neat upgrade. I'll look forward for this specs if they run Leopard with ease. Thanks fletch33!!
