Continuously reboots while holding C or Option

Title says it. I am trying to run iDefrag using a boot CD however whenever I reboot holding down C or Option the computer continues to restart itself over and over. I have been searching online for a few hours trying to find a solution. There was another user on a different forum that had the same issue but he never listed his solution.

I appreciate your help but your answer is only avoiding the problem. If later on down the road I need to wipe the drive and recover to the factory installation I will need to go through the same process.
