Is there any possible way to get the mini displayport on the macbook pro to connect to the component video slots on my tv?

You're going to have to provide more info.... What type of video inputs does your TV have? Most newer models have a variety of inputs that can be used.

In any event, you will need an adapter cable from the mini display port output to whatever input cable that is used to connect to the TV.

yes, get the vga adapter, then get a vga to component cable that connects to your tv.
