I have a Macbook Pro 2.16Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo and a 120Gb HD. I purchased a new 320GB Western Digital Scorpio Black internal 2.5' HD to replace the old one because it has filled up. I removed the old HD myself following the OWC guide ensuring that nothing was torn or broken. When I installed the new one and booted it up to reinstall the OS, the new HD was not recognized and when asked "Where to install the OS" the HD did not pop up. I then became frustrated and reinstalled the old HD the same way. My computer works fine with the old HD, but not with the brand new western digital one. Any thoughts? I dont want to pay $90 to get the thing installed and would prefer to do it myself. Thanks

The first thing when installing a new hard drive is to format and partition it to get it ready for installing OS X. Did you boot the machine with your original installation media and run Disk Utility from the top menu Utilities?

If you did that and the drive was not recognized by Disk Utility, then either the drive was not installed correctly or it's DOA.

Regards.
