I'm in the process of picking up an older MAC Powerbook 12" 1.5ghz, 784mb, 60gb HD. I was hoping to use an older version of Logic on there, can anyone direct me into what will work with this model or should i look at something different? Any help will be appreciated.

You should be able to run Logic 7 on that, and you could add some RAM to make sure. The processor is easily fast enough to cope.
I imagine you could run Cubase too, and Garageband of course!
Do you know what version OS is installed?

I used to run Logic 7 on my G4 1.33ghz Powerbook, and it ran fine with 1gb. Having a lot of tracks, effects/filters can start to lag a bit, but maxing out the ram would be beneficial.

Thanks for replying. I'm new to MACS or will be if i decide to go with this unit.
Below are the specs for it. Is Logic 7 expensive? is upgrading RAM in a MAC roughly the same price as a PC?

Mac OS X Version 10.3.9
1.5 GHz Power PC G4
Memory 768 MB DDR SDRAM
Screen size 12”
AirPort Extreme firmware version 400.1

Upgrading RAM is about the same yes. Logic 7 was expensive yes, but you can usually pick it up cheaply on eBay (£30-40 max.)
I reckon that Powerbook will be fine, virtually the same as mine with a little less RAM.

Kevriano--thanks for the info and help. Is that a Good OS that it has on there or would an updated one be better?

That's the final version of Panther, so 2 OS's ago. Tiger would be better, and maybe Leopard more so, but you may struggle with Leopard and Logic on that machine, so Tiger would be a good bet.
Panther is good though.

£ or $? Either way Yes! I paid more (possibly foolishly) just recently.

Pretty good deal I'd say. Check it comes with a charger and half decent battery and you'll be pretty much set. I'd also want to be sure you have the install discs for the OS, just in case.

Ok--I bought it and love it so far. been playing with garage band and its pretty nice. Any Freeware anyone can recommend that will do same and more as garageband--does garage band have ability to add more instruments and loops than the factory ones?

You can add instruments and loops to Garageband , yes. I think there are loads on Apple's web page.
Freeware that does the same, hmmm. I'll let someone else chip in there, not too sure myself.
Glad you're enjoying it.
