I have an external drive with a firewire and usb plugin, i was just wondering if there is some software that would allow me to transfer through firewire and usb at the same time. I'm just trying to speed up data transfer. I know i could use SATA but my mac book doesn't have a connection for that.

Firewire and usb are poles apart in their technology. I've tried what you're thinking with external hard and optical drives, and it just doesn't work. Firewire is 400 or 800, and USB2 is 480 (variable), so firewire is about as good as it gets.
