I don't have the original recovery CD for my Mac and I was wondering if it's possible to make one somehow just in case something happens, and if I do make one will it restore everything to factory settings, or just to the way it was when the recovery disk was made?

I don't know about making your own. You could contact Apple and see if they can provide one for you.

You can't make a recovery CD and I'd be surprised if Apple was friendly enough to send you one for free, but you could create an image of your working system and back it up to an external drive.

An image? Would that actually save more than a screen full of information?

A co-worker just gave me a iBook Graphite with no recovery CD/DVDs. I called apple and told them the story and asked if I could still get a retail version of OSX Tiger 10.4.11. The Tech said no problem, (I'm getting ready to faint at this point when I hear the price!) I saw retail versions on Ebay for $250!! He said that it would cost $16 plus tax and shipping for a total of $17.65. And they registered the iBook serial number under my name in case it gets lost or stolen. I only needed a one DVD and I think that your eMac may take 6 or 7 CDs so the cost may be a little more. Take a minute and give them call.

He doesn't mean screenshot, he means disk image. You could look into something like SuperDuper if you can't get recover discs.

Time machine could help you if you just want to be able to restore everything in the event that your computer crashes.

It is a eMac computer. Time Machine is only for 10.5 Leopard.
