weird empty trash sound played out of nowhere on my macbook os x 10.5.6

i don't know why every now and then i hear the noise of emptying trash even if i am doing tasks completely different from deleting anything at all.
could my mac be randomly deleting something i am not aware of, like temp files?

so i think i know it! do u guys use hotmail? cuz there on the page is an ad on the right hand side ripping paper apart and thats the sound i think! so it should be gone after christmas hehe
