I'm thinking of running boot camp on my mac so that i can play games on the windows side of things.

By doing this, would the extra OS (windows) on my mac slow down the speed of the computer.

Is it a good or bad choice??

hard to tell without knowing hardware and OS that you are using - been a lot of changes in Macs since 1984

Having a Windows installation in a Bootcamp partition typically has zero noticeable effect on the speed of your OS X installation.

If however, by creating a Bootcamp partition, you end up having too little free space in the OS X partition, that can slow it down. I recommend a minimum of 20-25% free space on any system partition smaller than 500 GB. (A system partition is one that has an operating system installed on it.)
