I'm looking for some software that will help me catalog my entire music collection. I know iTunes can export a .xml or text file of what is in my library, but I would like to find an app that scan's my Music Collection, and generates a nice HTML file or something, and let's me print it out, so I can have it on hand for parties.

Any help would be appreciated!

Delicious Library

Collectorz - try MP3 or Music Collector

Both of these have free download and trials. I use them for DVD collection.

Delicious did import all of my iTunes library.
Collectorz - I only tried their Movie collector and it did import my entire Delicious Library (over 600 DVD's).

I liked Collectors better, but already had Delicious when I found their software. Delicious is a little less expensive because you get music, DVD, software, etc. in a single package rather than purchasing each separately.

Give cdpedia a try . I use their DVDpedia and it is nice. You music in iTunes will import to CDpedia mark them with a little blue note. That way you can see at a glance what songs or albums you have already imported into iTunes. And it looks like it will do a good job of printing out list for you too. And you can use your Mac and CDPedia to sync your media collections directly to your iPhone and iPod touch if you have one.

CDpedia - Rocking all over the world

Yep, forgot them, and much less expensive than Collectorz. The DVDpedia is a real nice app and would imagine CDPedia is also.

I gave Delicious Library a try, and it's nice, but I don't like how I can't sort by Artist, and it doesnt import my iTunes library, the export feature is nice, but I really need it to be in the order of 'Artist > Album > Song'

Delicious Library, since it's designed as a database of items you own, does not show songs - only artist and album - called Creator and Title. If you want the songs, it's not the one for you.

You can sort by Artist by clicking on the Creator heading - and you can rearrange the headings by drag and drop into any order you want in list view.

I guess I don't really need the songs, but Artist and Album are a must for me. I might have to look into it again.

I did have trouble getting the music into the 'Music' Shelf, all though it did detect my iTunes library.

All your iTunes stuff will be listed separately from the Music shelf.

You can print out your collection of iTunes music that looks like this:
20090521-ja2wjsxbdepma446hsnbupw1ns.jpg

For that, highlight iTunes Music in the left column - then to File - Print

In the expanded print view at the Style box, select Collection Overview. You can save it as a PDF and preview before printing to make sure it's what you want.

For scanning in a collection. I've found it's just as easy using the add and search amazon feature rather than trying to scan the bar codes with the built in iSight. Yes it's time consuming, but once done, satisfying.
