I am looking at convertors to get my macbook pro onto my TV. Would you recommend a DVI to RCA or something else?

Can't recommend any connections without knowing what inputs are available on the TV. You will need to provide that info. Without that all anyone can do is start guessing.
The primary options are RCA, S-Video, VGA, DVI and HDMI.
What type of TV is it - CRT, LCD, Plasma? - or the make and model # so that we can find the info for the TV.
We will also need to know whether you have one of the new unibody or a previous model MBP.
