I have a powermac g4 quicksilver. I stared it and it powers on and their is no chime and nothing shows on the screen but the fan turns

on. When I stared it their was no cd drive in it and no hd. Does this mean that the possessor is bad or not. Thank

Pop in an IDE hard drive and see if it will boot to the grey screen with the folder and a question mark. If it does you then proceed to install an operating system.

I don't have a hard drive right now and I am just wondering if having nothing come up on the screen means that the processor is bad. thanks

Without a hard drive and drivers, nothing will happen. This is not like PC which will run the BIOS on booting. Macs are different!

Hey,

although i have g3, not g4, i have a similar problem here: http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/apple-desktops/152488-g3-dv400-no-display-problem.html

Is it true that without a hdd, there won't be anything on screen, i mean, "no display"?

I'm asking it, because my display went off after changing harddrive. Maybe i messed ide cable. I was quite careful though. But it was the only thing i touched.

If it might be because of the ide cable, a regular cable will work?
