Mobile me in status bar?

Hello there, I've got a core 2 Macbook and the other day there appeared an extra icon in my status bar. It is two little arrows, like a syncing symbol. It is apparently for mobile me. I do not have a mobile me subscription, and I am just wondering how I can get this icon off my status bar? I have tried poking around in system preferences and other obvious places, but to no avail.

Open the Mobile Me system pref and uncheck the "Show Status in Menu Bar" box under the "Sync" tab.

Or just hold down the command key and drag it off the menu bar.
