Help setting up Airport Card

Just got my first mac (iMac G4) which has a built-in AirPort card. When I use the AirPort Set-Up Assistant it tells me it is "gathering AirPort information
" but nothing ever happens. I am trying to connect to a D-Link DI-624 wireless router. Please help ASAP!!!
