I have a problem. Right now im on my PC upstairs because my mac OS X 10.4.11 Tiger is having typing issues. The keyboard wont respond to any typing, but my mouse functions perfectly. I need to know how to fix this.

Have you tried switching them around or using a different USB port?

So, you're saying shutdown fixes the keyboard problem, albeit temporarily? This reads to me of a hardware issue. What model of Mac computer are you using?

First thing is to boot from the OS Disk 1 that came (hopefully) with your Mac [if you need assistance with that, post back]. Once booted, run Disk Utility > Verify Disk > Repair Disk. Let us know what that achieves.
