jpegs not showing in mac mail

I'm running mac mail 3.5, for some reason when I receive emails with jpegs in the main body , I just get a blue brick with a question mark in the middle.
To view them I have to press the attachment button and open them individually, which ruins the funny emails.
What can I do or download so the jpegs open instead of getting the blue brick.
