Searching problem

i have a removable harddrive which has all my music on so naturally i search about in it when adding new music.however recently when i type something into the searchbar it starts searching 'home'.where is this 'home' and how do i get it to search the harddrive again?

try using the terminal

sudo mdutil -i on /Volumes/disk name

As an alternative to what I assume is Spotlight, may I suggest using Cmd-F from Finder. There you can nominate which drives will be searched, whereas in Spotlight Prefs, the drive option is not offered.
