web surfing is slow when Im downloading

Hi guys, just got a 24" imac - loving it so far! The only issue Im having is that web surfing is ridiculously slow when Im downloading something else. When Im not downloading surfing is really quick. Is there a happy medium I can set downloading to so I can still surf comfortably?

Well, depending on what you're downloading and what program then yes. If you use Vuze you can limit download speeds (this is assuming you're talking about torrents).
