A friend of mine has a mac mini and she can't get any applications to install. The icons just jump up and then down a few times, then it quits and disappears. (to note that the applications are on the hard drive). I proposed to upgrade her OS from 10.3.9 to 10.5.6, but I would like to know if there is a solution to that problem.

Is she installing them correctly? Opening the dmg or zip file and then dragging the application to the application folder? Package installer? Upgrading from Panther to Leopard won't make a difference if she's not installing the applications right.
