I'm new to Mac-Forums.com and i had a general question about the OS.

I downloaded Darwin so i can do PC stuff on my Mac Book (brand new with all the OS X updates). With darwin being ran i was wondering can I:

A) Run PC games on my mac that are in the form of discs?

B) Be able to download those discs to the hard-drive in order for me not to constantly keep putting the cds in my computer.

Thanks,

Chris

I assume you mean "Darwine", the Mac OS X port of Wine? Yes, I have successfully installed and played StarCraft and WarCraft III using Wine on a GNU/Linux system, so I imagine the Mac port will have no trouble. You can easily rip games as disc images using Burn and then mount them with Disk Utility. However, I've had problems in the past getting Wine to see mounted disc images as CDs.

What games are you planning to play? My guess is that many will not work this way. Wine is by no means "perfect" - it won't run all Windows programs perfectly (far from it for many programs in fact).
