I currently have panther, but I would like to get an iphone which requires a minimum of 10.4.10. My computer does meet the required minimum for leopard but I have read such awfull things about it, and I have a feeling that it would run run slowly and inefficiently on my computer.

Would it be best to just install Tiger?

Is it even possible to buy tiger at this point?

Also is it possibly to upgrade and keep my photoshop and illustrator even though I do not have the disks...Is it possible to back up an entire program?

I know this a lot of info but any help would be appreciated...thnx

Leopard was a little flaky early on. It's since earned its spots.

If you don't need any of the features that Leopard brings to the table beyond Tiger, then by all means, you might as well have the more efficient OS (Leopard has a larger footprint than Tiger).

The only thing I can see is that Tiger might be difficult to find new (and you definitely need a retail version of it, restore discs will not work). So you're mostly limited to eBay. But before you buy anything, make sure the seller is clear that it's a retail edition.

As far as the Adobe apps, providing you have a valid license key, you should be able to contact Adobe for replacement media. If you don't.... well.... that's not a topic open for discussion here.

Nope, those are restore discs for a MacBook Pro.

Just do an eBay search for "10.4 Retail". There's plenty of them out there.

you've been a great help...just one more thing...most of the versions for sale are 10.4.6...do I need to buy a 10.4.10 or can I get the 10.4.6 and upgrade somehow?

That last number is the minor revision, and it's a free automatic update.

Yes. 10.4.xxx is upgradeable to 10.4.11, and it should be automatic.
