Hard drives not mounting

So my PowerMac is failing to recognize hard drives consistently. It will recognize some of the drives some of the time, some drives all of the time, one drive it will NEVER recognize, and a pair of drives it will NEVER recognize at the same time.

I have been able to recognize most of the other drives on other Macs without any trouble. One drive now appears to be dead to all machines. Wondering if my Mac killed this drive (it was brand new!)

Anyone got any idea what is going on here?

Here are the pertinent details:

PowerMac
OS X
2 x 3 Ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
9 GB 667 Mhx DDR FB-Dimm

Dead drive - GRaid 3 TB
Occasionally Reconizable drives (but never together) - Verbetium 1 TB drive
Always Reconizable drive (2nd) RRaid 3 TB.

Many Thanks.

Are these external drives? How are they connected? How are they formatted? If external, are they bus-powered or require a power source? If external, have you tried an alternate port to plug into?

Have you tried rebooting. Every now and then my Mybook will not mount, a simple reboot fixes that.
