Hello,

I have an iMac (iSight & Intel) that had a hard drive failure. I bought a new hard drive and replaced with no issues...

My issue is that I don't have the original MAC OS X disc that came with the computer...Is there a way to use a different MAC OS X disc? If so, how do I go about installing the OS?

I used a Mac Book Pro and target mode to format the new hard drive in the iMac, but am unsure of how to get the OS installed on the iMac. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

If you don't have the original install media for your iMac, then I suggest you purchase a retail copy of Leopard from an on line reseller. Both Amazon and Newegg sell Leopard (black retail DVD set) discounted.

Amazon has it for $109.49. Link

Regards.

thanks

Hello,

Thanks for the quick response...so any retail MAC OS X copy that is 10.5 should do the trick?

Was I right to using target mode to format the hard drive ?
