Hello everyone,

I have charged my macbook completely and it shows in the options that it has been fully charged, however, it is being shown as 99% charged and not 100%. Why is that when it is fully charged? Earlier, when it was fully charged, it showed as 100% but then why is it being shown as 99% now?

That happens to me all the time! A long time ago I found out that when the computer isn't plugged into an outlet, it starts to USE the battery so the percent of battery life left decreases.

So when the computer isn't plugged in and is at 100%, after a few minutes, it will decrease to 99%.

Gosh... technology today.
:)

Well I'm sorry I forgot to mention above...I actually meant that when my macbook is plugged in. Its even plugged in right now and still the percentage is shown as 99%.

Coconut Battery related question...

Current Battery Charge:

Current Battery Charge: 4094 mAh
Maximum Battery Charge: 4151 mAh
98%

Current Battery Capacity:

Current Battery Capacity: 4151 mAh
Original Battery Capacity: 4100 mAh
100%

Addtional Info:
Battery-Loadcycles: 10
Age of your Mac: 5 Months
Charger Connected: Yes
Battery is charging No

I got my mac almost 1 and a half weeks ago and its a brand new one. First of all, I am confused that if its a new one then why is its age 5 months. Secondly, Why is it being shown as 98% on the current battery charge when the battery has been fully charged. I'd highly appreciate that if you please clarify the information. Since, I'm a new mac user thats why I'm learning about its stuff with time.

Thank you.

Your machine indicates it was first powered up 5 months ago and has 10 charge - recharge cycles on the battery.

Where did you purchase it from? It may have been used as a demo at the store or as a test machine. I would go back to where you purchased it and inquire.

As for the 98% showing fully charged, that's normal.

Regards.

Its battery loadcycle was 6 when I got it. I am from Pakistan. I got it from an Apple authorized seller. The battery works quite fine actually and its pretty much around 4.5 - 5 hours, however i was still concerned since I paid the price of a brand new macbook and was wondering how come its 5 months old. Thats very strange actually. It seems brand new though :-S

My current battery capacity is now 99% after using up another load cycle whereas it was 100% before. Is that normal?

Yes, it's normal.

It could be that the reseller either tests the machines when they come in, since it looks like they do not turn over their stock very fast or it may have been used by them a few times. Here in the U.S., if the store had used it, they would still sell it as new with full warranty, however, most reputable sellers would tell it you had been used as a display model or something. I have purchased many display models of some types of electronics.

Well they didn't tell me but it sure seems to be brand new when I got it plus I got a full year warranty so I guess if thats the case then its ok. By the way, when you battery finishes and if you have the apple protection plan, do they replace the battery or do we have to buy the battery on our own?

The battery is covered if it is defective.

Once used up through the normal course of it's life span, no, they would not replace it.

Oh alright. Thank you.

So for how much time can a battery usually last for if taken care of and used with properly?

Battery Question :-S

I'm using coconut battery and my battery count cycle is 11. It was showing the current battery as 99% when it was on AC power. Now, when I'm using my 12th cycle, it says that the battery current capacity is 97% all of a sudden. Why is that? :-S

Full capacity is 4100 and now current capacity is 4000. I didn't use it at all until now and how come it fell from 99% to 97%?

Should I contact the apple care and support about this if anyone doesn't have an idea here?
