Well, besides my aversion to Microsoft products - I prefer Mail better because it's so well integrated with OS X. It works with Address Book and iCal almost perfectly. On a similiar note - I like how it's a seperate application from AB and iCal - unlike Entourage which aims to be an all-in-one type PIM. Also unlike Entourage - it's free with OS X.
Some people think that Mail is not up to scratch and they liken it to "Outlook Express" for Windows, although I don't know why.
Anyway, don't forget other mail contenders for OS X:
I do not like either Outlook or Entourage. To me clunky to use, Big and Bloated. Never used Outlook on windows except once and came running back to Eudora and even Outlook Express!
Mail is simple but does a LOT more than it would apear to do. Faultless IMAP support where some other Email progies fail doing IMAP right. The Junk filtering is very good.
If Mail is not enough for you, try Mozilla Thunderbird. It does everything but overall I prefer Mail. Clean and simple and has never let me down in over a year of use. I check 5 accounts with it and it works faultlessly.
And like Aptmunich said, the integration with iPhoto, Address Book etc
I feel Mail is better but use Entourage as its junk mail filter works better for me in that with 'high' sensitivity, I get no junk in my inbox and now I have added acceptable domains and specific addresses, hardly get any good mail ending in the junk folder.
Sam, If you go to the preferences under Mail and the Junk Tab and unceck most everything there I find it filters out pretty much anything that is not junk. I never looked at the options till one day and now I rarely get anything in any of my Inboxes that is junk.
