I've got one of the original 2G iPhones, and for the last two or three days, it's been making a loud, scratchy sound instead of the ringtone, and instead of the various tones, like acknowledging keystrokes, etc. I shut it down for several minutes and then I rebooted it.
When that didn't help, I re-synced it to my computer (Mac G5), and when that didn't help, I restored the original settings and then reloaded my apps. It's still scratching instead of ringing and the scratching persists in my phone conversations. I can hear, but it's noisy, which is not what the iPhone has been.
The real frustration is that this iphone was replaced just before the 1yr warranty was out, due to the battery refusing to hold a charge. Any ideas?
