TechTool Deluxe from Micromat

what is this program and is it effective, adverse effects etc... having trouble understand it because it seems to just be a disk utility tool similar to main menu...

It's a system utility that runs integrity checks on various components of your computer.

I'd also like to hear what people think:
Unless I'm missing something, Techtool Deluxe is almost totally useless if you have a problem.
All it can do is say "Yep, you have a problem."

What's worse: It says "Yep. You have a problem. Download the "TechTool Deluxe ... with diagnostic a d repair version"...
Except there is no such thing.

What they mean is "Buy TechTool Pro" but they don't have the honesty to come out and say that.

And they leave us AppleCare fools with a false sense of security, "Oh, TechTool! Excellent, if anything goes wrong I'l be OK".

Maybe I'm missing something. Maybe they need to earn their daily bread.

But unless someone can explain that I'm wrong, I won't be buying anything from Micromat. Ever.
