When I minimize an application and it's sitting in the dock, then I do a four finger swipe to the right or left, the application shows up in the box, but when I click on it, it won't maximize. What am I doing wrong? How can I get it to maximize other than clicking on the icon in the dock?

TIA!

The application will be selected, but only because you may want to open a new window for that application. If you want to restore your minimized window, check to see if your app has a suitable shortcut to do so.

iTunes' main window can be restored by pressing command+shift+1. Quite a number of others use Command+1 to restore an apps main window.
