coming any time soon?

maybe a price drop before september?

being business-minded, i dont think apple will drop prices before their back-to-school promos end in the early fall.

mini rant:
i think it sucks you can no longer get a macbook over 13 inches
i think it sucks you cant get a processor bigger than 2ghz for less than 1300+
i think it sucks the macbooks still arent able to handle over 4gb ram
i think a lot of other things suck about buying apple products right now but..
/rant

anyway, in my dreams, new macbooks will come out in august
and i'll be able to get a 15" 2.5ghz+ machine with the capacity for over 4gb ram for like 1200.:D

All Macbooks have always had a 13.3" Screen. Ibook had a 12 and 14" but not a Macbook. There has NEVER been a Macbook with a larger display that I have ever seen.

4GB of Ram not enough? What do you do with your computer? 4GB is plenty for almost everyone and remember the Macbook is the bottom of the line.

It really sounds like you have a lot of hatred toward Apple. My suggestion? Wait for Windows 7 and get a PC. Maybe Macs are just not for you. I doubt Apple will ever make a larger Macbook. The larger Mac notebooks are the MBP which cost even more.

Edit: Just found this URL.

So just get a Macbook Pro. The Pro line and consumer line have been separate for quite some time now.

Good answer...exactly what I was going to say!

Too many people are using incorrect terminology:

- MacBooks (13" screen only)...have an Intel processor
- iBooks (12" & 14") & Powerbooks (12", 15" & 17")...non-Intel processors

Seriously. 1GB or 2GB of RAM is plenty for just about anyone.

I never understood why some people feel they need copious amounts of RAM.

Unless you're doing some sort of daily, professional-grade heavy duty graphics work, music production, video editing or 3D animation you really don't need that much memory.

Yep. I'd say that'd be a dream. Can't even get a 15" Dell with a 2.5 within $200 of that money. And the screen is 1280 x 800 instead of 1400 x 900 on Apple's 15". They're also still using 800 Mhz FSB with DDR2 in their notebooks - no DDR3 in sight.

Of course getting a $1200 MacBook Pro is VERY "doable"...just wait a couple years for their value to depreciate!!!...that's when I will get one! Actually...I will probably wait until the value on a used MacBook Pro goes below $1000! ;D
