I'm having trouble trying to fix the page margins in Word 2008. I have the page set to 8.5" x 11", margins set to 1" etc etc..yet instead of the typing area being 7.5 " x 10" (reflecting the 1" margins), it seems to 6.5" x 9"..I tried googling the problem but unfortunately couldn't seem to really find any relevant info.

thanks in advance for the help

In order for changes to page margins, font type, style, etc., to be permanent, you must apply the changes to the "normal template" or whatever template you're basing the document on. Otherwise, every time you open a new document, it will default to whatever the normal template or template you've chosen is currently set at.

Once your templates are setup, each time you open a new document based on that particular template, your settings will be there.

Remember though that Word will default to using the normal template if no other is chosen.

Regards.
